Privoxy, what is it and where did it come from?
I'm not sure what installed it on my system, but my web browsing has become a little wacky recently and about the same time I started noticing Privoxy warning showing up when I try to go to certain pages or often instead of banner ads. Certain sites have been running slowly and I wonder if Privoxy is the culprit. But if I close it down, I seem to lose my ability to surf the web. Is this a Windows 7 thing that I'm stuck with or a 3rd party app that's just nested itself into my system?

I was going to say spyware/malware based on your description of the end results, but the wiki article points to it not being malicious
