I know I want a CD-RW in my next computer for back up and to burn CDs but do I also need a DVD and/or CD drive? If so, why? It seems like a lot of duplication. Thanks.

I say go with the DVD plays CD's as well as CD-Roms. There aren't too many dvd-rom programs right now, but there will be. Plus, it's an alternative to playing movies if your DVD player breaks down.
