Does anyone know where I can find the regular Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live Player 5.1 online? I don't want the MP3+ or the X-Gamer or the Platinum or whatever, I just want the regular one. Anyone know where I can find it at ALL online?

can't find any "regular" Sound Blaster Live 5.1 b/c there isn't any. they come in the 3 versions you mentioned (there's also the DE [Digital Entertainment] 5.1 available in Asia). I believe the only difference in the MP3+ and X-Gamer versions are software related (the Platinum has it all).

This is what I was talking about...
http://3dsoundsurge.com/reviews/Live...ePlayer51.html

Oh well, I'm going to get the MP3+. I don't want any of the games available in the X-Gamer package. I decided to get a 5.1 Live because it seems no matter what set of speakers I get it will be better, and better in the long run. 90 bucks w/free overnight shipping at outpost.com.....seems like a good deal right?

from that review:

"To reflect the change in connectivity the names for the retail cards changed to X-Gamer 5.1, MP3+ and Platinum 5.1 in North America while Europe uses the Player 5.1 and Platinum 5.1 names"

as for getting the MP3+ for yourself at outpost--not too bad at all

Well, it looks like I know what I'm getting in terms of sound card and speakers. Thanks for all your help, everything from all the those facts to the insight to the provided links to various places. Helped a lot.

Why get a SB Live card 5.1? It costs more and doesn't sound as good as a real dolby 5.1 decoder.

You can get:

SB Live 5.1 + Cambridge DTT2200. You will get an OK 5.1 sound.

OR

SB Live (value will do it, all you need is a digital output) and Cambridge DTT2500/3500 and you will get awesome 5.1 sound.
