I'll go ahead and tell you my current setup:

500 mHz Gateway Solo 9300 (laptop)
160 megs of RAM
12 gig, dvd, stuff like that.

I've got a little money to burn and noticed that RAM sure has dropped in price in the past year or two. I could afford to get about 64 to 128 more. I do the normal college kid stuff, surf the net, play online games, etc. I've usually got about 5 to 6 windows open at once. Do you think this would help any or speed things up?

I haven't checked yet into the best brands or even how many slots I have open. The manual says that it uses memory modules called "SO-DIMMS"

Thanks for the help.

I don't think you'd notice much difference if you added 128 MB. Going from 32 to 64 is huge and from 64 to 128 is definitely noticeable, but after that it's really hard to justify. Especially for word processing, surfing, and games; even if you are doing them all at the same time.

If you've really got money to burn, I can think of much better uses for it. Tequila and women of questionable virtue come to mind.

Do laptops use the same RAM as pc's?? I've never used a laptop so really don't know. Unless you're doing real intensive work, more ram won't really give a noticeable difference.

If you are running win98 it's not gonna use it anyways, not really enough to see a difference, if you had win2000 maybe. But still not much, plus your mobo might not be able to handle over what you have anyways, but can't say for sure.

Thanks for the advice guys. I might just put that money away for better things.
