Recommendations for external hard drive enclosures?

I have a brand new internal hard drive that I plan to convert to an external backup drive, but I've yet to find an external enclosure that reviewers generally agree is a solid performer. There are plenty of nice ones out there, but the one- and two-star reviews give me pause, especially when multiple people have similar complaints.

Was almost going to get the Thermaltake BlacX docking station, but then I read from more than one person that the power indicator light is just glued into place and, if accidentally pushed (it looks like a power button), can break free. And the USB cable doesn't fully seat itself in the back of the unit, as the port isn't deep enough. Didn't sound so appealing.

Can anyone recommend an external enclosure that has worked well for them? I'm looking specifically for an aluminum case (to help with cooling) and an eSATA connection.

Many thanks.

Maybe try to take a pick over the ones available at NewEgg?

I have an ICYDOCK brand enclosure from Newegg that has worked very well. Take my anecdotal experience for what it's worth.
