can songs purchased from the iTunes store expire?

I haven't synced my iPod to another computer in over two years.

When I sync, an error message pops up in iTunes that says that my computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on my iPod.

I am given the opportunity to authorize my computer, so that the track in question will not be erased from my iPod. When I try to authorize my computer, I'm told that the computer is already authorized, and everything seems to be fine.

Until i sync my iPod again.

Any thoughts as to what the heck is going on? I'd almost rather just delete the track than have to put up with this warning every time I try to sync.

The songs don't expire, but Computers can gain and lose authorization, although you'd typically have to re-install iTunes or the entire OS before you'd have to re-authorize the PC.

Are the songs located only on the iPod, and not in iTunes on your PC? If so, try transferring the songs to your PC in iTunes:

the songs are on both the ipod and the computer. and i can play it without problems on either. I think it's just some glitch that's more annoying than the song is good. but deleting the song seems like giving up.

Can you delete it from the iPod, then resync it with iTunes?

If you go to the iTunes Store, does it give you the option to upgrade the song to the DRM-free version? It'll probably cost you 30 cents, but is probably worth it.

so, I clicked on "do not authorize." the song was deleted from my iPod on the next sync, but I could play it w/out a problem on my computer.

then I synced my ipod again and it's back on the ipod. guess it was just a glitch.
