well, i just installed my new Pinnacle Studio PCTV capture card, and i'm getting some kind of hardware conflict i don't know how to fix:

This device cannot find any free Memory Range recources to use (code 12).

Conflicting device list:
Memory Range 00000000 - 00000FFF used by:
System board extension for ACPI BIOS

anyone have any pointers on how to fix this??

go to the control panel and double click the system icon find the capture card in the device manager. select it then select properties. go to resources and see if it lets you change it. usually you have a number of possible selections. some cards also let you manually select the resouces by jumpers. I assume you are running win 98

when i go into 'resources' under system > device manager, there is a button to 'set configuration manually'.. however, when i try to change it, it says 'this resource setting cannot be modified'..

if it wont let you change it there.. you can try checking to see what its conflicting with, then go change the resources on that instead.

Well you could always go into the BIOS and set IRQs to be set manually as opposed to plug and play. Just do this with the IRQs you need to have open or is causing conflicts. This is a common way to fix modem and lan card conflicts with other devices. Plug and Play BIOS' usually do a good job though, but you seem to be unlucky with this scenario. It's hard to figure out whats wrong. Need more info such as MB, CPU, and all that good stuff. If you can't fix it by setting IRQs manually you may have other hardware conflict issues. Lots of luck.

I do not have win me but i understand that it does not allow you to change certain system files. I guess resources are one of them. another possibility is to read the manual on your motherboard. sometimes the pci slots are preassigned irq's with some sharing them. if you can see which slot shares irq's with which slot, you can often just move the cards around to get things to work. also see if the card allows you to set irq's and resouces by jumpers and bypass win me assigning them.
by the way what is conflicting with it?
good luck.
