Win98SE, IE5.5... keep deleting the "Links" folder and IT KEEPS COMING BACK!!! Every single time I switch my f***ing computer on, it's back again! Why will it not stay deleted? Why, dammit!!! I do not want you in my Favourites menu, Mr. Links Folder, why will you not take the hint? Gaaaah!

(And in case you're wondering why I'm so obsessed with getting rid of it, it's because it's a STUPID name for a Favourites folder. I mean, what the heck OTHER than "links" are you going to have there? It's like labelling all your directories "Files" )

Right click on the top part of your browser and then uncheck "Links". Then delete the folder and that should work.

FYI - That doesn't work. I tried that and it still comes back. I've just learned to deal with the links folder

This merely removes the "Links" tab from the top of the browser. It doesn't remove the "Links" folder in the Favorites.

Yeah, it bugs me too...

Hmm, apparently the reason you can't delete Links is because it's a "special folder" and cannot be deleted You can, however, hide it: http://support.microsoft.com/support...gn_SRCH&SPR=IE

It's still there, it just doesn't keep popping up and pissing you off. Oh well, better than nothing, I suppose...

Actually, you *can* keep it from popping up, although you can't delete it. Right click on the "Links" folder, then click Properties. From there, check the "hidden" box. Voila! Gone!
This works on that crappy "Media" and all those official IE folders that irritate me so.

TCHJ and RobK,

You're both wrong.

Although it can't be deleted, it can be hidden. All you have to do is....

No no no, my friend, you're mistaken; you can certainly hide it, but you just can't delete it

You can only hide it if you didnt enable viewing of hidden files in explorer (view - folder options - show all files)..
