Re: any thoughts on Google NexusOne?

I got one. I went for the unsubsidized one and paid full price. I like it a lot! It's my first time using a touchscreen phone, but it beats the pants off my old phone. It's been getting a bit of flak on various websites for things, but I'm 100% happy with it. Well, make that 98% happy, I wish the camera took better pics, I got spoiled with the camera on my N82. But still takes better pics than most phones. In general it is lightning fast with most apps, with internet connection speeds, etc.

According to this article, it might be better to wait:

A quote from the article: "This is an epic failure for Google"

I have it on T-mobile.

My 3G coverage is fine, so I'm not affected by that problem.

The complaints about the ETF charge for cancelling your account early if you buy a subsidized phone are overblown as well. Most tmobile resellers do the same - Amazon charges you extra if cancel your account early and used a subsidy to buy it. Plus I have no intentions of cancelling service in only 4 months, nor do I think most people would. I didn't use a subsidy anyways since its cheaper in the long run not to.

And the application memory issue is misleading as well. The phone has 192MB of internal storage for applications. That is for the application itself, the SD card is used for data storage. Most apps are 1MB or less in size, so that means you still have room for 100-200 custom applications, which is more than plenty. I think people get confused and think its 192MB for the application + all associated data, but that isn't the case.

And the current estimate of only 20000 sales in the first week isn't good either

I agree with that "This is an epic failure for Google", but I think let the time decide about the future of Google Nexus One

Re: any thoughts on Google NexusOne?

I'm in Canada and I'm very tempted to order one while I'm in Texas for two weeks. The only problem is that I can only get it activated on a new carrier with which I have no experience. Other Canadians have claimed that the Nexus One works great, while others claim they can't get 3G. It is supposed to work 100% with the carrier, Wind Mobile, since they use the same band as T-Mobile, but I don't want to pay over $500 for a phone to find out I can't get decent data coverage.
