Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

There's also a browser that lets you watch flash videos in a separate window. No flash games, though.

Going to be a good year for android. Gingerbread is coming out late this year. Probably will coincide with another nexus phone or another motorola

But anyways, I checked http://www.soundgardenworld.com/ and I think it looked a little better than in the iPhone. But when I tried to check one of the videos, it said that I needed a flash plugin. So, do any of you with Android phones are able to see the videos? With other browser or something like that?
Flash isn't available on the Droid yet. Though you can use Skyfire which will play the video in a separate little window.

You can use a Nexus One with AT&T right now, and Froyo started appearing on those last night.

Still have another year on my 3gs and this is my wife's year for a new phone. She's probably getting the new iPhone in a few months

Then why are you asking? Sounds like you're already set.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

I'm guessing that's including paying for the two years of service?

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

Yes

if you include the 2 year contract a nice phone is around $2200 total cost. And the ETF fees are very high if you don't like it

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

ok, that makes more sense, but i rarely see anyone include the cost of service, because you have to get that with any carrier.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

About the service, it should be cheaper if you go with Sprint, even with the 4G/EVO tax.

Right now I'm paying aroun $100 to AT&T for my iPhone service, and I think I can save at least $10 (including taxes) if I go with Sprint and the HTC EVO.

I really expect the new iPhone to at least match everything that the EVO does, and even include some additional nice features, plus all the jailbreaking goodies. But I'm so tired of AT&T service in the Bay Area, and I can use Sprint warranty. If I don't like the service or I see that's almost the same as AT&T I can go back to an iPhone, I think.

According to the comments it's been already blocked by Hulu. Expected.

I don't mind that, I'm more interested about performance with the new Mobile Flash version.

If it works fine, you can always setup a proxy in a local PC and use that connect to Hulu. That's how some people have been able to use Hulu in their PCs.

If anyone is interested just google "Hulu PS3 proxy" or something like that. The same principle should apply to an Android phone.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

cool... hopefully HTC won't take too horribly long on getting it to those of us on the Incredible, though stuff like miniclip.com already works with Flash Lite.

That said, during the page load comparison, the N1 looked sluggish as hell.

Yeah, if every page with any amount of flash on it causes the Android browser to be that choppy scrolling, I can't imagine people keeping flash installed for long.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

Well what I don't get is -- I'm running on the Droid Incredible which comes with HTC Flash Lite. Webpages with Flash on them load a smidge slower than normal pages, but are still generally smooth, even once flash is playing, this includes a few pages shown in that demo. (tho HTC Flash Lite does a shit job with Flash Video).

Early tests show that Adobe Flash 10.1 Beta runs better than Flash Lite, and yet Flash Lite is still doing a better job at browsing Flash-heavy pages? Just seems a little off.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

my guess is that it will depend on the exact page you're visiting, the amount of data pulled, the version of flash it was coded in, the quality of the code and the amount of resources the running code will consume on your device

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

So I got the Incredible from verizon, but at no point did it say what my estimated delivery date was as others said they saw. And check the order status is now conveniently experiencing technical difficulties.
