“Moving forward, LG will continue to leverage its mobile expertise and develop mobility-related technologies such as 6G to help further strengthen competitiveness in other business areas,” the South Korean company said Monday in a statement.
As the company winds down its smartphone business, LG said it will continue to provide service support and software updates for customers who already own existing handsets for a period of time, but did not specify exact dates.

I've had my current LG phone for more than 2 years and I guess this means I'll need to upgrade my phone now.

I am pretty bummed about the LG phone situation. I was planning on upgrading my LG G7 this year to the V60 Dual Screen but they are not in stock anymore. I dont see any other phones with all the features I need so I guess I am stuck with this one for a while.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
So I've started to look at phones to upgrade and since I have an LG (Q7 Plus) I feel software updates might go away with the LG no longer making phones. I saw a mid range Samsung phone I might be interested in and found out I won't get any money from T-mobile for trading in my current phone.

I finally decided on a new phone yesterday. I went with the Samsung Galaxy a52. It's a midrange phone for them but an upgrade from my LG phone.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
Apparently Android 12 releases today on Pixel phones and various other brands. It seems the menu screens will be more blocky but everything more streamlined. 👌
Edit: Nope no release today but in the next few weeks. 😳

Android 12 is now officially out...for Pixel phones that is. Guess I will be having some fun later or tomorrow installing depending how comfortable I feel. New OS's make me nervous when they freshly new. I hate running into bugs/glitches so I'm hoping all features work smooth.
You nailed it!

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
So this is weird.....Last week, sometime, I noticed my clock/alarm functionality changed.
The alarm-picker section looks weird, and more importantly, the alarm snooze/wake button is entirely different. It used to be a big circle in the middle of the screen, now it's much smaller and at the bottom.
Especially awesome when I didn't notice it, or any heads-up, and was forced to learn real quick one morning while trying to find the damn snooze button. Anyway, I hate it.
Is this Android, or my phone, or a setting I accidentally turned on?
If it's Android, who the F said "yes! that is an improvement!"
And most importantly, can I change it back?
Phone - 2020 Moto G Stylus
Provider - Mint
Android version - 11

Your clock app must have updated. Try uninstalling updates?

I just updated calculator and they gave it a makeover. I kinda dig it. Big round buttons.
I'm still holding off on upgrading to Android 12.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
Upgraded my pixel phone to Android 12 and imo it's more refined and easier to find things than 11. It's less cluttered too. I really didn't care for changing the icon shapes, never used it so that was eliminated in 12. The settings page is now easily readable thanks to the bigger font size. I don't see a massive change like some sites claim. I did notice that it's much faster to update apps at play store. I'm digging it and do not miss 11. The Material You is in beta (at least on my phone) but I didn't care for the theming icons (icons adapt to wallpaper colors).

Man, I really want a Pixel 6 Pro. If their biggest complaint remains the slightly older 5G modems then I'm fully on board.
I use my phone a lot while driving (voice commands), and am hopeful the improved voice-to-text applies there as well.

My Pixel 4a 5g still includes free photo storage, so I suppose I'll hold onto to it for another year before upgrading to the Pixel 7.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
I'll hold mine until 2024.
I only upgrade if it's totally necessary. Once Android updates finish then it's time to abandon ship.

And yes, my calc updated too. I'm OK with that update, I like those buttons too.
I wish it gave you some notice of what changes were made, if they are theoretically noticeable like this one was.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
Hey, does anyone know how I can add an event on my calendar app that is out of town and in another time zone where it will alert me to the correct event time?
Because as of now if I add a Broadway show that starts at 8PM in NYC, it only records the event at 8PM PT, not ET even though it knows the location of the event. I can't find any way to change the time zone in the event, It's so weird and I'm afraid I will miss an event because of it.

When I click 'add event' right below the date it says "Eastern Standard Time". If I tap that it lets me enter a new time zone for that event.
Does yours have that option?

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
No, but I looked into it a bit and I guess it depends on whether you have "Lock Time Zone" off or on in settings. If it's off, I guess it will go with local time for all events. That must have been the issue when I was out of town a couple of weeks ago.

More weirdness....
I have last year's Moto G Stylus (and really like it).
Sometime over the last month, sooo many apps require me to sign in like every day. And of course using 2FA. Mostly Amazon apps but others as well. In the past I might not have to sign in for months. Is this another "we're making your life more secure/difficult" or maybe I accidentally changed something?

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
Google pushed a fix today that finally fixed an Android Auto issue I've been having with my Pixel 6 Pro (frequent crashes/disconnects) when using USB to my vehicle. Apparently they fixed the USB/charging issues in general so uh woot.
