In my experience, yes if you are looking for a popular flagship phone like an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy. If you are looking at something else, like a Google Pixel or Samsung Note, wait 3-6 months after phone launch.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

Yeah, I'd like a Galaxy S9+. Best Buy is offering an 18 mo Sprint lease for $14/mo. That seems like a good deal at $254 until the S11 comes out -- as cheap as fixing the cracked screen on my S8. But maybe I'd be better off waiting until BF, as I'm in no hurry.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

If you are thinking about getting the Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9+, there are many good deals even now. That phone line isn't selling well, so it seems that Samsung is discounting aggressively.

For me though, if I wait until end of year, I'd wait a little longer to see what the S10 brings. Rumors are that it will be quite a big upgrade over the S9 generation: under-glass fingerprint sensor, more memory and much bigger battery (like the Note 9), improved camera, etc. I don't know if those things excite you, but I'd wait for them.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

Ugh, maybe I will wait then. The battery on the S8 is really beginning to try my patience now. Plus I hate the small crack on my screen. And my eyes are going and it's getting harder and harder to watch content on my phone while running on the treadmill without wearing glasses.

That said, it's nothing I can't "suffer" through for another 6-7 months I suppose....

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

I've been looking at the LG G7 for around Black Friday. I expect it to come down quite a bit. I just don't like the Galaxy phones right now. The only thing I'm a little hesitant of is that I don't think the screen is any bigger than my current Droid Turbo. It's taller, but not wider. Contrary to most people, I actually do like the notch.

This site is good for comparison: https://www.phonearena.com/phones/si...nes/8956,10779

We definitely want different things. I like the aspect ratio of the newer Samsung Galaxy phones, and the absence of a notch.

It's not so much the aspect ratio as it is the rounded sides that I don't like. If I went with a Galaxy it would be the 9+ for the bigger screen.

I also like the edge-to-edge screen. I find the side menu very useful.

The rounded edge on the 8 and 9 are a big improvement over the prior models, it's only really an issue when your finger accidentally pauses a video.

I'm convinced they work very hard and do many MANY drop tests to ensure that the breakage is as excessive as possible.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

After owning an iPhone for many years I've switched to a Moto G6 and it's pretty good but the Play Music app is making me pull out my hair. We have thousands of songs in our library and I'm trying to download them to the phone for listening in the car but I can't find how to download single songs, only by album. Is there a way to do that or not? Is there a better music app ?

For single songs, you have to add them to a playlist, then you can download the playlist.

OK, that seems to work.

Funny thing, I was trying to google how to do this, and somebody said to do that, but the way they worded it didn't make sense but yours does, so I'm glad I came here.

thank you!

App mirroring coming to Windows, appears to allow Android apps to run on Windows devices: https://www.theverge.com/2018/10/2/1...ows-10-desktop

You can already do that with Blue Stacks and other programs.

I know. But baked in support is a cool feature.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

I'll finally be on the Android bandwagon. I'm an unabashed Nokia fanboy, and have been getting by the last 4 years with a Windows Phone. Still love it, and like any Nokia phone, you can't kill it physically. But apparently, you can kill it by no longer supporting apps, which is what is happening to anyone still using a Windows Phone.

So this weekend I preordered the Nokia 7.1 Android One. Will be arriving at the end of the month.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

$799 Oct 17th for Pixel 3.

Didn't see anything about Pixel 3 XL price.

Edit: looks like XL starts at $899

Nice phone, except for that big notch. I know some people are OK with it, but it's a big no for me.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

I've had the Pixel XL and now the Pixel 2 XL, but I'll probably pass on the 3. Hate the notch, and don't see anything super unique that makes it worth upgrading.
