I was bummed because some of my back ups on the SD card are working on the new phone. Oh well...

You are bummed because some of the backups are working?

I can't decide if I want to get a S3, a Nexus 4 or a Note II. BB is supposed to have the S3 for $100 again on Thursday but I am thinking I should just wait a few weeks for all the BF ads to leak.

No contract, go n4,it is by far the cheapest and gets direct updates from Google. With contract, s3 or note2 comes down to size preference. The n4 has onscreen buttons, which reduces the screen size for some apps which don't run full screen.

CM10 beta is out and pretty stable. Installed it on my Nook Color last night.

Even the nightlies are a lot more stable than they were in the CM7 days.

So you would prefer the S3 over the N4 if you were doing a contract? I am still debating if the note 2 is worth $200 more than the S3.

Keep in mind that the Nexus 4 doesn't have LTE. That might not matter to you if you don't need the speed or don't live in an area with LTE coverage, but the difference is noticeable.

CM10 beta is out for the Epic 4G? That's impressive.

They only started CM10 builds for the Epic 4G four days ago. Only nightlies are available, unless you're willing to go with CM9.

I don't have an Epic 4G, I'm just surprised they're still developing for it.

The N4 has a 2100mah non-removable battery and no external micro sd support. The 2100mah isn't small, but isn't as large as say the maxx/maxx hd which is 3300mah.

The gs3 and note2 both have a 2100mah and 3100mah removable battery, respectively, and a removable microSD card. I would wait until bf, there is a chance that one or both may drop in price.

of course, if you want a pure Google experience, then the n4 is the way to go.

Here's a negative story about Android, since apparently I post negative Apple stories too much.
One-quarter of Android apps available via the official Google Play app store put users at risk by having permission to access sensitive, personal information, including emails and contact information. That finding comes from an analysis conducted by security firm Bit9 of 412,212 of the roughly 600,000 apps available via Google Play.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

1. After I did a factory reset my Nexus One still had my wallpaper displayed. If this did a full wipe how does it know my old wallpaper??
2. Do I need to update apps that I don't use like Facebook? Does this cause a security problem? Cause this would save space ..
My problem with the "pure Google experience" is if you can't un install any app you don't want what good is it .. There is bloatware everywhere.

While I like my Nexus One a N4 won't do no memory card and I can't put in another battery are deal breakers. Looks like I will be getting a S3 next time someone has another sale.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

There is an option to back up data in the settings. If you have it checked, it might remember your wallpaper.

On ics, you can freeze apps. I believe that the n1 doesn't officially support ics, but you can install a rom to get ics.

I'm assuming the data backup is to google so it's always going to remember right??

As far as roming goes I can't get my N1 rooted I'll hit a snag look up fix and then another snag. so I gave up trying to root.

I'm confused, do you already have Facebook installed? If so, I don't see why you wouldn't update it because of space. If you don't use it, uninstall it and don't worry about it.

I don't think there's that much bloatware on Nexus phones at all. It's pretty much just Google apps there by default. Non-Nexus phones are far worse as far as unremovable bloat, so it has nothing to do with "pure Google experience" at all.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

^true non-Nexus has more bloat, but any phone on ics or later has the option to freeze most bloat.

Facebook (along with twitter, google voice, amazon mp3, goggles, google books, quickoffice and youtube) all come pre-installed on my Nexus One
all are apps I don't use.
