But wouldn't that make you crash more often?

Have fun, and thanks for all the help. Please make it back alive... I will need your assistance in the future.

I hear the new linux ski's are the best. they are very stable although they do not work with all ski poles yet. go to www.linuxskipolesdriversthatwork.com to see about driver support . Enjoy the time away! I am sure X will step up to the plate.

Bushdog, I am sort of the same way. It took me forever to get the hang of skiing. My parents were losers and never took me as a kid so I did not start until about age 21. I have not been in about 3 years, it is amazing what you forget. I took 1 professionsal lesson and had a good friend (that was a ski instructor) teach me the rest. It makes a big difference when you have someone who really knows what they are doing go down the mountain with you (mostly he went down backwards, in front of me, and gave me pointers, I was impressed)

The first couple of times I went I fell every 20 feet and fell every time I got off the lift (that is the worst).

At my best I could make it down a few blue slopes, this past weekend only green I have to get back into it, but it is tough to get the time.

Just remember lean forward, and get down low.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who busts his a$$ trying to get off the lift.

I've only gone once, but I have no desire to do it again. As far as I'm concerned a ski lift ticket is just a lottery ticket to 6 weeks of rehab on your knees.

I would fall when I started going to fast and couldn't quite stop myself (and my inner thighs were really sore from all that toeing in the skis to slow down). One time I lost my bindings, and felt a knee twinge, which scared the crap out of me, but nothing was totally ripped or shredded, so I decided to keep it simple for the rest of the day.

I think everyone does. The newbie trick is to come off the chair in the full snow plow position, lean far forward, and get low and hope the person in front of you gets out of the way quickly

I said that the first time I went, but some friends talked me into going again. They said, 'you don't even have to ski just come hang out at the house we rented drink have fun and hang in the ski lodge while we ski' Stupid me agreed and then all I heard the whole time was 'I can not believe you are not going to even try it again' so I did and after the second time, I liked it (but this was when I had personal instruction from an expert skier)

I can not go too fast either
I have the shop set my bindings really light so the ski pops off if I do anything slightly wrong and I go on skis that are too small for me (this helps the control). I understand that in order to ski black diamonds these setting would never hold, but I am not going to do that anyway

My legs are sore, I have not done much in the way of exercise since my 15 month old daughter was born. I need to get back into it, QUICKLY.

I heard you were giving balls away, thanks I think Kenwood needs them more than I do.

I do not skateboard or surf so I think the snowboard is out.

Ah man, I couldn't skateboard if you paid me.

I'm sort of a clutz on roller blades too.

I am?

Everything isn't always an ulterior motive. I was searching threads I posted in to see which had the fewest views (yes, snow day and all) and found this thread. I read it, it made me chuckle and it also served the dual purpose of dredging up some nostalgia.

It's not like I'm padding or anything. Whatever

It was a joke! Seemed kind of strange resurrecting a thread almost 2 years old.

So I'll just refrain from making the next joke I was going to make.

Wow, I thought I was bored.

X, please make the joke. I'm looking for entertainment, it's so much better than actually working...

Ah, ok. Sorry then. Tough to tell when you're modding or not.

Yeah, 2 years ago, 1000 posts. Those were the days.
