Sorry, that should be cd-rw in the topic line

I would sure appreciate it if anyone could post the best price on an external cd-rw drive...

The best price I found was an Iomega USB 4X4X6 from Staples.com for $160 shipped. Unfortunately, they are out of stock and don't know when or if they'll get more.

Any other ideas??

I had a 4X4X24 CD-RW and I hated it!! Spend the extra dough and get at least an 8X!!! I learned the hard way with so many things that cheap stuff sucks!! Now I'm buying new stuff to replace the 'low-end' stuff I bought before.

Here's what I had...then got:

4X4X24 CD-RW to 16X10X40 CD-RW
15GB Hard Drive to 40GB Hard Drive
8MB NVIDIA video card to a 64MB ATI video card
550MHz P3 to a 933MHz P3 processor
56K modem to DSL
Crystal Sound Fusion soundcard to SoundBlaster 5.1

DVD-ROM drive is next!!! I have a 10X, going for a 16X.

SPEND A LITTLE MORE NOW, and you won't regret it later!!!!!!!!!!

If you want an external, SCSI is probably the best bet. But you will spend more for it and will have to get a SCSI adapter if you don't already have one. If you don't want to do SCSI, you are pretty much left with USB (don't do parallel). I haven't seen USB CD-RWs that write faster than 4x. Firewire may be an option, but that also may cost a little more money.
