iTunes - how to drop something off of download list

I wanted to download the LOST pilot (it's broke into two one-hour segments) and it started downloading both the standard definition and the HD versions of both episodes. I don't need the HD episodes since I will be watching it either on an iPod Touch or my computer screen. How do I cancel the HD downloads?

I can right-click then hit delete, but they will come back the next time I download something.

I tried to download some free LOST recap things and got the same problem.

Looks like you aren't the only one. That's annoying.

Re: iTunes - how to drop something off of download list

From what I can tell (contacting itunes help), it's not possible.

When they upped the video res from 320x240 to 640x480, I got an approval to re-download the content in its current form (640x480) rather than re-purchasing it. To do that, they set everything on my account to "Not downloaded" - this included everything (such as music, which I didn't need). The only way for me to get everything to stop downloading.. was to download it.

Try contacting itunes and see if they can just cancel it from your account maybe? When I contacted them for the above, it was a few years ago.
