What is this "pencil trick" I hear mentioned so often? I know it's a way of unlocking the multiplier on AMD chips, but how do ya do it? I've got myself a Duron 650, and I'm going to get it to 1GHz if it kills me

I would feel better using the conductive pen myself.

I have built 4 systems and penciled in all of them. Most have been up for months and are still going strong. If it does not work just erase it and do it again.

I should also say that the of the four I did all were duron 600's. Two do 850mhz, one does 900mhz and one does 950mhz. It is kind of luck of the draw as to how fast yours will go. The max is about 1050mhz but most do not make it to 1000mhz. If you decide to do this do not use the standard heatsink/fan. Get an alpha pal 6035. I got mine at www.pcnut.com Also get a motherboard that has multiplier control. I have had real good luck with the abit kt7. MSI is supposed to have a nice board too. good luck!
