I have 3 sticks of RAM in my motherboard, 2 are PC133(128MB&64MB), and 1 is PC100(64MB), so of course my BIOS setting is at 100. Would I be better off running at 192MB RAM at 133 than 256MB at 100?

steve,

You have a 933mhx processor? I would run 192 @ 133 if you can, I mean if this is where your processor was desinged to be. If it is a 100mhz fsb then 256 @ 100 is fine.

What does your processor recommend?

Yeah that is what I thought, but wasn't 100% sure.

I have a friend that works at upgradeplanet.com, if you find the lowest price on pricewatch.com they will match it. Tell them you want MICRON PC133. You should be able to get 128MB for $103 + shipping (usually $8.95) right now.

Running a 933 at 100FSB WILL NOT HURT ANYTHING actually the processor will run much cooler this way but you are not getting full speed out of it. Ditch the slow ram and run 192mb @ 133.

Already did last night, thanks. Not really looking to head back up to 256 right now. I don't think it's really going to make a difference for what I'm doing rigt now.

You are most likely correct.

Just cause I got it cheap ($10) I went to 320mb on this machine and didn't notice much.

(if you are curious 256mb simm + a 64mb simm = 320mb all Micron PC133)
