A Geek Test

This was posted on BoingBoing earlier this afternoon.

Given the title and the text below, do you "get" it? It honestly took me about 2 minutes to figure out what the joke was. One co-worker for it in about 5 seconds and several others didn't get it at all. Numerous commenters over at BoingBoing never got it either.

Just thought I'd post it since it was a pretty good geeky brain teaser and I was kind of proud of myself for finally figuring it out.

Re: A Geek Test

Spoiler:
"6F0099" is an RGB color code, in this case for the above shade of purple. Very few would know specifically what color it represented. It was more about recognizing that "6F0099" looked like an RGB code.

Re: A Geek Test

Seems more like an HTML "programmer" test.

Re: A Geek Test

Sadly, I got it immediately after seeing the (incorrect) color code. Not that I knew what the color code should be, just that it had to be wrong as blue and correct as purple.

Re: A Geek Test

Wouldn't it be easier to change the number to 0000FF?
