Converting a PAL DVD to NTSC?

I just pre-ordered a CD from the UK which includes a region free PAL DVD. I'm assuming this won't play in my US PS3, so I'm going to need to convert it. Does anyone know if something like Handbrake would have any issues with this, or if I could just play it on my computer (a Mac)?

Re: Converting a PAL DVD to NTSC?

Generally you can play DVDs from any region on a PC. The main factor will be whether your DVD drive is flashed as region-free or you still have some region changes left. Just don't use your last one on a non-region 1 or it will be stuck there. I don't know if Macs can do this as well.

Per our rules, any discussion of "converting" the DVD will get this thread closed.

Music DVDs are region 0 (or all regions) most of the time. Specially if they included as part of a CD.

You really should try it in your Mac.

i think i read that if you have a high-def (i.e. digital) tv, both pal and ntsc will play. only analog tv will be affected.
is this true?

Not true.

And it ultimately comes to the DVD player anyway because if it can't play the disc, it doesn't matter what the HDTV can or can't do.

I'll just give it a spin on my computer when it gets here, and see if it works. Thanks!
