Question regarding printing digital pictures

I bought a new printer, however when I print digital pictures there's an orange tint to the prints. Clarity is fine, just the color. The printer is a Canon MP490. Is there something that I need to change?

Re: Question regarding printing digital pictures

Are you using Canon brand ink and paper? The absorption rate of ink on paper varies - some off brand combinations also work but you have to experiment t find them.

Also the MP490 is an all-in-one printer and as such, doesn't produce great photos. A dedicated photo printer would be better, but less flexible and sometimes more expensive.

Re: Question regarding printing digital pictures

Hi Kuroiinu. I'm using Canon ink and paper. I agree a dedicated photo printer is the best, but I'm only printing a few pictures here and there.

Re: Question regarding printing digital pictures

I have the same problem. I don't print enough pictures to justify buying a good printer. Now I take the memory card and have them printed outside.

Re: Question regarding printing digital pictures

I'm a complete novice at this, but I seem to mainly hear that it's better to print them at Target/Walmart/whatever.

The difference in cost is minimal, and the papers/inks used there are better and longer lasting than stuff you buy for home printers.

Too expensive printing your own when it's $.19 online per print

Re: Question regarding printing digital pictures

It's likely that one of the colors is not flowing properly. Try printing a nozzle check pattern, and if it doesn't look the way it's supposed to do a head clean. If that doesn't work either replace your cartridge.
