Is there a way to get into the code of programs and remove annoying banners? I know that the banners are how they make money, but I NEVER click them... The one particular program I am speaking of is AOL-Instant Messenger. I would like to be able to get rid of the "Try AOL..." thingy at the bottom and the flashing ad banner at the top.

Any help?

With most programs, if you do enough web-searching you can find some program or other which somebody has written to remove banner ads; the only thing is, it takes a LOT of searching, and a whole lot of weeding through useless warez sites and the like. Try using a good search engine site like Google and from there, it's down to a combination of choosing and refining your search term wisely (making good use of the "-" function to filter out porn sites, irrelevant junk and the like) and clicking on dozens of sites until you find the one that's got what you actually need on it. Tedious and boring, but worth it if it means you can get rid of those f***ing banner ads...

Remove the ads from AOL Instant Messenger with this Winamp plug-in.
OS: Windows 95/98/NT/2000

go to download.com and search for AIMazing.
