Video Editing Software Recommendations

I'm looking for an editing suite and I'm looking for one that has the ability to load the entire video into the timeline showing each frame of video.

I have a bunch of home videos that I loaded into the computer, but lots of them have dead space or parts that I need to cut out. It would make it easier to see the video rather than playing the video to find these parts.

Anyone know of any programs that can do this?

I don't know of any that do that, but an excellent and easy to use editing program, my favorite is Sony Vegas.

You could try Microsoft Movie Maker (XP) or Windows Movie Maker (Vista) for free, it may all ready be installed.

Virtualdub will do what you want. Put near everybody uses it. Many animated gifs that circulate the net are made with it(which requires what you want to do plus other things).

It's free, just google it.

I second the suggestion for Windows Movie Maker. Make sure to check this site before deciding that WMM can't do what you want it to. And if it can't, I highly recommend Sony Vegas.

Re: Video Editing Software Recommendations

Windows Live Movie Maker is fine for basic editing -- which is about all I do. And it's free.
