How do I move itunes collection?

Built a collection from Limewire --> iTunes --> Ipod. I should have saved the music on a Limewire folder but didn't and now I want to move the collection to an Archos media player.

Any suggestions on how to move about 1300 files from itunes?

Thanks

Do you not have the files on your computer any longer?

They are on my computer in the iTunes program but I cannot seem to be able to move them from that program to another folder. I didn't keep all of them in my Limewire saved folder, like I should have done.

They aren't in the program, per se. Open up windows explorer and find out where they are on your hard drive. Copy or the files and drop them into the archos player (if it supports drag and drop). If you have to use a program to move the files, just point that program to the folder where your music is located.

Are you on a Mac or PC?

iTunes should have copied any files you downloaded into its own directory when you opened them.

I know on Macs they're located in Music > iTunes > iTunes Library (or something like that). Should be seperate folders for every artist.

I'm on a PC. I don't see an iTunes library.

Open up itunes, right click on a track, choose "show in explorer." Something like that, anyway. It will go straight to the folder your music is in.

Or, just do a system search for *.mp3.

Well, the idea is that if you find one of those folders, a lot of those files, maybe even all of them, are likely to be there.

In Itunes, you can just highlight them all and pull them(effectively copying) into the folder(any folder you chose). Just make sure all 1300 songs are visible and then hit Ctrl+A (select all) [Edit>Select All] and then drag them over.

I tried that and got the red circle w/line indicating they won't drag & drop. I'll try again.

fyi, I found out my new (this year) Dell M1330 laptop may have to be returned for repair and I may possibly lose what's on the drive. i.e. my Limewire/iTunes collection. I have the music on two ipods, want it on the Archos and should probably back up to another drive.

I'd just like to say hello to the RIAA employees reading this Forum and hope you have a lovely visit to Western Pennsylvania.

Re: How do I move itunes collection?

Are you certain the mp3 files are on your computer, and you aren't looking at the files on your ipod? If it's on your ipod, you'll have to go to a bit more work to get the files off.

Tried the same drag & drop today and this time it worked. Strange but true. Thanks for the help!
