A friend of mine has a lap top with a DVD player in it.
The player says that he can play DVDs from any zone, however after the fifth DVD played, it then sets itself permanantly to the zone of the fifth DVD.
Does anybody know how to change this?
Does he
1) need some type of software patch
2) have to tak it to a shop?

Is there a web site that can help him?

Hardware lock and software lock. hardware lock = newer dvd rom drives.

beat software lock with dvdgenie @ http://www.inmatrix.com/

beating hardware lock = harder. usually, get hacked firmware upgrade from the net to bypass region lock. firmware upgrade = a bit dangerous. make sure you know what you're doing. make sure you know what drive you have.

to see if a certain dvd-rom has hardware lock, check list of firmware and dvd-roms at ... a link in http://www.inmatrix.com (out of a ton of other places)

to see if your dvd-rom drive has hardware lock, use dvd drive info program, also available at http://www.inmatrix.com/

full, coherent english sentences can bite me.
