Which One: Black Ice Defender or Zone Alarm?

I've been hearing many sides of this story as of late and I just thought that I would take it up with the experts in the forum. Which one should I use Black Ice or Zone Alarm. Or should I not even get one if I want to be able to play Multiplayer games like Half-Life? I don't know what to do!

A computer question should be in the PC forum... FWIW, I use and like BlackICE. It was on sale at Frys with a rebate for a total price under $10.
