I have a wussy Intel Celeron 400 MHZ.(I have added RAM and also have a 56k modem.) Will I run into trouble if I have a Plextor 32x/12x/10x CD-RW ???? Any suggestions???????

smam 12-13-00 09:40 PM

Can anyone help me????????

4KRG 12-13-00 09:47 PM

Nope, not if you have a plextor. Just don't use the machine for anything else while buring (or do and see what happens, it may be cool).

"Nope" I won't have problems or "nope" can't use it with my wussy pc? Sorry, I just want to make sure before I buy the Plextor 32x/12x110x. Thanks for your help!!!!

If you're doing more than burning (AKA, playing mp3s), and you notice that you get buffer underruns error messages when burning, it means you should do nothing else while burning.

SCSI is the best bet for burners, unless you buy an Asus card. 4KRG, you might appreciate the humor in this. Some pawn shop had an Adaptec SCSI card for 479$ Cdn... I think it was the 2903 to boot!! That's 70$ at most Etailers! We had a very very good laugh, I hadn't seen a modem for 75$ and a NIC card for 50$ in a long long time!

Actually, if you have the Plextor PX-W1210TA/SW model, which is a 12/10/32 EIDE, you can pretty much do whatever you want without getting buffer underruns.

You see, that model utilizes BURN-Proof technology and it actually stops the laser when the buffer runs out. After the buffer is filled, it resumes writing.

a post is missing a new member signed up and was bumping old threads in various forums. The posts were then deleted.
