iTunes if you want to buy them, but I don't think you can convert all songs to ringtones. I think there's an icon next to the songs you can convert. It'll cost $0.99 to buy the song, and another $0.99 to convert the song to a ringtone.

If you're using a Mac and have Garage Band, you can make free ringtones out of your own music collection. iTunes only lets you convert songs you've purchased from the iTunes music store for ringtones.

There's a workaround for that...

^^ And you don't even need a Mac.

I used Audacity to edit/clip my song, and renamed the extension. Double-clicked and it was added in iTunes as a ringtone.

I remember being able to do that when the iPhone first came out, but one of the iTunes updates disabled that function. I didn't know that ability was available again.

Well, it certainly was when I got my 3G. I haven't tried it since, however.

IIRC, that workaround worked for one version of iTunes. Then it didn't work on the next version then it worked again on the version after that. I think the last update allowed you to use the workaround.

Re: Iphone ring tones

for the PC it doesn't get any simpler than iRinger. Free, no install, loads the MP3 into iTunes, lets you edit it...etc...

No need for additional software - iTunes is all you need to create ringtones.
