So, my mouse double clicks itself.

Well, I have an Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 from 2001, and whenever i single click with the left button, it will intermittently double click for me. At first, it was only once in a while, but now, it seems more and more frequent. Is there any way to fix this, or is it time to get a new one?

I've got the same mouse, did you go into the intellimouse software and recalibrate your mouse? Here's the link for the software if you lost it:

This mouse use to have a lifetime warranty, I see they changed it to 5 year

not sure if it is worth your time and effort, but I am pretty certain in 2001 it had the lifetime warranty. You just use to have to scan the bottom of the mouse with the serial number and fax it to MS and they would send you a new mouse

I have the same mouse and the same problem. Got mad one day and slammed it on the desk, it stopped the double clicking. I'm getting a new mouse soon.

I have a Dell that had those problems under Vista. I contacted Dell Support, they re-installed my mouse driver, and the problem went away.

Didn't know it was a lifetime warranty, but i'll give it a shot.

BTW, this mouse was a replacement one that MS sent me under warranty when my original one broke.

This problem happened to me as well (Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0). It was annoying as hell. It was only after booting in another system, that I discovered, that the problem was with the mouse itself.
I don't know what caused it, but I suspect it fell on the floor too many times.

Hmm, glad I checked here. This has been happening to me over the past few months and it's driving me nuts.

Re: So, my mouse double clicks itself.

This is happening to my mouse also (Logitech Trackball). Really frustrating, especially if you try to drag folders & such. I don't feel like dropping anothe $60 on a mouse right now.
