Free DVD Player Software?

Is there good and also free DVD player software out there? I've got the PowerDVD that came with my Dell but I have discovered that you can't capture movie frames with it. That is one item I am interested in.

Suggestions are appreciated.

Media Player Classic. Once you have that, check the overlay setting (not sure what it should be set on) to save image.

Maybe Windows Media Player (bilt-in Windows) can use the PowerDVD decoder to play DVDs and WMP might be able to copy images via the printscreen button.

I would recommend the VLC player. It has extensive controls built in, much more than the MPC, and its free as well, and has a great screenshot feature built in.

I have installed VLC and it works, but I find it difficult to pause on a specific frame and/or nudge it back or forward to another frame. Perhaps I'm missing something.
