Where can I buy a spring for a portable DVD player?

The spring that pops the door open fell out and I need to replace it. Any tips as to where to buy a spring? Radio Shack doesn't carry them.

Thanks!

They're overseas and it's a generic one. I would think one-size-fits-all for portable DVD player doors.

Maybe steal one out of a ball point pen?

Preferably out of the pen owned by your "friend".

Can you show some PIC's? I doubt anyplace would carry them but you might be able to use a spring from something else. Can you open the door with one hand and put a Dvd in with the other? It sounds like something broke if the spring came out.

It looks just like any other portable DVD player. There was a bit of glue where we think the spring goes, so it just seems a matter of gluing it back again. Thanks for the pen tip, I'll try it.

I assume the type of spring you need is a tension spring, not a compression spring. So a pen spring won't work.

Call them and explain what you need the spring for and they'll probably send you a few to try.
