Firefox 3

Anyone download it yet?

Looks like the main page is still pointing to Firefox 2 but every mention on the site is for 3 as of now.

This seems to get you there though, albeit slowly.

Yeah, looks like it's working now. The new address bar history is kind of neat.

I just installed it on my MacBook and definitely like it. It seems very speedy and the layout is nice.

I had no problems about 20 minutes ago. So far, so good. I always hate that very few of my extensions work with the new versions of Firefox.

Downloading now. We'll see what still works, as far as add-ons.

Supposed to be faster, use less memory, some interface changes and enhancements, downloader changes that let you pause a download and resume... some good noticable stuff.

Wikipedia lists most of the major changes, both "frontend," which is most noticeable to end users, and "backend," which is less noticeable but should make it more stable and work on more websites than before.

http://www.spreadfirefox.com/en-US/worldrecord

it appears 'spreadfirefox' is not responding anymore...

the servers are apparently getting crushed...

there are mirror sites, and other file download sites to download the version 3 binaries if Mozilla isn't able to handle the load at times.......

Here's a mirror I set up just for DVDTalk users:

Firefox Setup 3.0.exe

Enjoy!

Does anyone else's history look like this:

EDIT: nevermind, I found out it's because of the Tab Mix Plus dev build extension.

What is the record for most downloads a day anyways since thats what they are shooting for here. Also I've been using a little while now and it does seem to load faster.

I haven't had any problems (and seems noticeably faster loading pages). What's buggy?

I'm seeing contents from two tabs in the one tab. Also, when I maximize, things aren't resized properly, and I end up with the menu bar + tab bar stretching across the full screen, but the content stays the same size and the space is filled in with whatever is shown by the app that is behind FF.

It works okay BUT....

I can't install the Flash player plug-in!

Hopefully, Adobe will fix this problem with an updated Flash player that installs in the presence of Firefox 3.0.

EDIT: I found the fix--I had to change Windows Vista Start Menu to Classic mode and do a "Run As...." mode to run the installer program with all Firefox 3.0 functions closed. Methinks the Mozilla Foundation needs to post a strong warning about this.

After 5 minutes of use, I'm astounded at how blazing fast Firefox 3 is on my G4 Powerbook. IE and Firefox2 were dragging ass consistently, and I was afraid it was my old laptop getting senile!

Um... thanks? I know what a bug refers to, I was wondering what was buggy with Firefox.

There is none. Guinness does not (yet) officially recognize this as a category. Mozilla has petitioned to have this entered into the Guinness record books.
