Windows Media Player 11 cannot play dvds
when I try to watch a dvd my windows media player gives me a copyright message and that I may need a updated driver for the player to work. Honestly I did not know exactly what to do. How can I fix this?. I did a search but I couldnt find anything specific that could have help me fix this problem. Anyone have any ideas what can I do? Thanks.

The K-lite codec Pack comes with a DVD decoder, It has taken over as my personal favorite: http://www.codecguide.com/
You could also use VLC Media player: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
And they are both free!

The others seem to have answered your question, but I thought I'd elaborate a bit:
To watch a DVD, you need an MPEG2 decoder. To distribute an MPEG2 decoder, you need to pay a licensing fee per copy of the media you're selling. I don't think the fee is that much, but when you're Microsoft and you're selling 400+ million copies of Windows XP, the licensing fees add up fast - especially when you consider that perhaps 50% of those copies of XP will NEVER be used to watch DVDs. So MS decided not to include the decoder with Windows... which is a pain in the ass, but makes complete sense from a business standpoint.

I am also having a similar problem since I upgraded to player 11. I have voice, but no sound with avi files. So do I go and download K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 3.8.0 (first one on the list) and that will fix my issue?
I tried googling my issue, but since I have no clue what I am doing here, I want some advice before I go changing and downloading things.
ETA: I am trying to listen to audio live on this website. http://www.0157.org/ On one computer it plays fine, the other I get the following error. C00D1199
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...nalid=C00D002F
The microsoft page isn't much help. Everything looks fine. Would the Codec pack solve this problem as well?
TIA to anyone who can help me.
