XP/Vista On Win98SE

Just finish installing urberskin/RP8 beta on my computer, to make it look and feel XP/Vista.

I'm using at the moment, a vista theme, and a Custom XP appearance. Man, everything moves much faster, and everything looks smoother, even winamp looks better. There are alot of things coming out and already release on win9x to made it more updated, and don't forget the patch to play XP only games on Win9x.

Just amazing stuff

I've spent the last week trying to get my wireless card to work on my 98SE notebook; my head is overflowing with hotfixes and updates and MSknowledgebase and unofficial service packs and incompatibilities and unsupported products and conflicting opinions about WinME or WinNT or Win2000. Too much information and everybody is guessing and nobody is an expert. Where is a reliable source for Win98SE troubleshooting help?

A Win XP disc is $98. No reason not to buy it.

Win98 was great in its time but why wouldn't you just get the XP real deal?

I'm buying vista soon, as my secondary OS, but Win98se is main use, for gaming and online , etc. Vista will be for the newer games and other features.

Microsoft declared the end-of-life for Windows 98 almost 2 years ago. That means no new patches, security upgrades, nothing. It's 10 years old now. Out of curiosity, what kind of hardware are you running that you can't run XP? Time for an upgrade to the 21st century.

I ran XP just fine on PII-450MHz with 128 MB RAM for years. What antiques are you guys using? Don't get me wrong, I dig old tech (still have my Atari 2600 hooked up), but for everyday use 98 would frustrate the carp out of me.

I had XP on a Toshiba CDT 440 laptop - Pentium I 233MMX with a 10gb hard drive and 160MB ram - it ran fine.

Maybe you missed the part where i said i was buying a secondary computer, which is Vista for the newer features and newer games. Windows98SE is my main computer for online gaming, games, and online. I have a business XP PRO edition computer, but its only for business.

Nevertheless, These are my specs for my computer and it runs pretty good:

Windows98SE, 600MHZ, PIII, Intel Application Accelerator 2.3, 512Megs of Ram, SoundBlaster Card, BFG Geforce 6200 256MB OC edition PCI card, Direct X9C Nov 2007, 500GB My book HD Edition, 90 Watts PSU and a Seagate 160GB internal HD........

Lots of goodies there, also click the top link where it says, Windows 9x Member Projects

I install the service pack/autopatcher(over 250MB file), Kernel patch which allows me to play XP only games on Win9x, and i install the:

http://www.msfn.org/board/UberSkin-t110483.html

Uberskin, which installs fonts/desktop schemes, VISTA ones, and XP ones. I just added the Vista Wallpaper......

Eh, not everyone has $500 to throw at a computer, especially when they have an old Pentium 3 or whatever that probably works just fine for web surfing and email.

Although the specs for XP really isn't that high and I can't imagine running Win98 for anything these days.
