Problem logging into a website

Ever since I heard about cheapassgamer.com, I haven't been able to go to the website with any of my computers in my house. I have tried logging in from Explorer and from Firefox and both have problem loading the page. Have someone had a similar problem?

What sort of problems are you having? Any specific error messages?

I can get on their website fine.

Has your wife turned on a Net Nanny to keep you from pr0n and the "ass" in the URL is blocking you? Ask her to add it to the safe list after you show her it is legit. Also, grow a pair and don't let a woman run your life like that.

That's the problem. I can't get into the site at all. I tried getting to the website directly www.cheapassgamer.com and through google and yahoo and it stalls like when you are trying to access a webpage that is down.

We don't use any blocker, parental control or anything of that nature. The logging to the website just stalls and then the message "problem loading page" in Firefox and "Page cannot be found" in IE appear after a while.

We don't use any fireblocker or anything like that.

Can you ping it?

What happens if you go to them via the URL? (http://69.16.200.128)?

Nope. It says that the host cannot be found.

Can an ISP block a website? Can a website block a country?

Yes and yes. Also a country can block a website. Do you have any other place you can try to access it from? Possibly on another ISP?

A friend of mine who has another ISP here in Puerto Rico was able to access the site with no problem. Tommorrow I'll try to access the site from work, where the have the same ISP I have. Let's see what happens.

Well, I tried accessing the site with different computers in places that have the same ISP and I wasn't able to get to it. I went to my friends house that have a different ISP and it the site loaded inmediately.

So the problem is the ISP. How should I handle this then? I doubt that they did this on purpose.

I would call your ISP and tell them what's going on. It would probably be helpful to do a tracert, since it's possible that it's not necessarily this site that's causing the problem.

Here's how you do a trace-route:

Go to Start -> Run. And type in cmd

A black screen will come up. Type tracert cheapassgamer.com

Your ISP may need you to talk about that screen when you speak with them, especially any sections where asterisks appear.

Well guys, problem fixed. I called my ISP last week before leaving to NY and yesterday everything was fixed. A CS for my ISP called me telling me that they didn't know how that website got blocked by their service. He also told me that I wasn't the only one that called about the problem.

Thanks for all the help to everyone who contributed to the thread.
