Need some help. Webpages are taking forever to load

I have Comcast High Speed internet. And on my main computer, DVDtalk.com and some other webpages load extremely slow. I am talking about a 20 second wait, when in the fourms here. Most webpages load pretty fast. I tried it on both Firefox and IE.

Anyone ever get this? and any tips to fix it. This just started. Usually DVDtalks webpage loads pretty fast for me.

Is it actually loading or do you get situations were nothing is happening. If the latter from experience that I have had and read its comcast you are getting hiccups and it doesn't really matter what you are doing it just stops .

Try turning off whatever firewall software you're using, just to rule it out as the cause.

tried that, nothing. Sites like Gamefly, DVDtalk take forever to load.

I timed how long it took me to get to this post.

from DVDTalk Forums main page ---> Tech---->This post

it took me about a 1 minute 45 seconds!!!!

If you want to figure out what's taking so long, install Firebug. Open Firebug, click the "Net" tab, and visit a slow-loading page. It'll give you a time breakdown of every element on the page.

Malfunctioning adservers or DNS timeouts are usually to blame when specific pages seem to stall in the middle of loading. The former can be worked around using adblocking software, though you'll annoy the admins and/or violate the TOS of some sites (DVD Talk included). The latter can be fixed by switching to another DNS service (e.g. OpenDNS).

Looks like DoubleClick's adserver is to blame. Since blocking ads would go against the DVD Talk TOS, the only thing I can suggest is to report the problem in the Feedback forum.

Got it fixed!!!

downloaded HijackThis software. and it found that I had "settings that may have been changed by spyware, malware or other unwanted programs"

scaned it and clicked fix and now its fast again.

Ok, I'm sort of having the same problem. My page will load, but it'll have that little circle thing next to the arrow in FireFox indicating that it is still loading. It just recently started to happen. Does anyone know how to fix that? Thanks!
