Windows Says ZoneAlarm is Off?

The Windows Security Center (XP Pro) is reporting that my firewall is off. The message reads in part "ZoneAlarm Firewall reports that it is currently turned off." However when I check ZoneAlarm, it says it is on. This started yesterday and has came back as soon as I rebooted.

Any idea what might be causing this?

By "it" I presumed you ment ZoneAlarm. I shut it down and the Windows security icon disappeared from the tray totally. You'd think it would still detect a problem with no firewall at all. I restarted ZA and the icon has not reappeared.

Thanks for the suggestion. It was so elemental, I would not have thought of it.
