Dazzle DVD Recorder, Can it do MPG/AVI/MOV

I am looking to take videos from my TV/VCR/DVD/ETC and make video clips for youtube, and home use. Not looking to make DVDs. Anyway, a friend got me that Dazzle DVD Recorder for my brithday. It looks like it just makes DVD's out of your videos (I guess you would need a dvd burner also). Before I opened it, I wanted to make use you could save the videos at MPG/AVI/MOV or other formates. If not, can it be used with other software or does the USB hub only work for making DVDs.
Thanks
here the site's info on it

My old version of Pinnacle Studio will let you save in AVI, MPEG (1 or 2), RealVideo, Windows Media, VCD, SVCD, or DVD.
