Ethernet adapter - need driver

I am trying to install Verizon DSL for friends. They have an older Gateway that has a 3Com ethernet adapter with the markings 3C450 Home Connect 10/100 PCI ethernet adapter. This adapter was never used but shows up with the infamous yellow question mark in the device manager. It has no driver(s) and I cannot find any.

I tried the 3Com site but they don't list one nor do they even list this adapter.

Suggestions?

Should I just go get them a new ethernet adapter?

Thanks
