PC Shutdown Problem - Help needed Urgently

My work computer got a problem today. It says something about services.exe shutdown in a box and the the computer shuts down after 30 seconds.

Any help in how i can get rid of this on the computer? I was hoping to run Avast, but i doubt the computer would stay on long enough befoer it would shut down.

Any help is really appreciated.

Thanks.

you have not kept your windows updated and have had a worm infect you... any one of hundreds will do this...

first go to start>run , clear out anything in the box... type in "shutdown -a" (without the quotes) this tell windows to abort the shutdown that is scheduled... now you can do some work...

then go to this link Windows Update site and download all the updates for your OS and the owrm will be stopped...

revisit this update site regularly...

Isn't there someone at your work who handles PC problems?

Well i am pretty technically proficient...but this was a new problem to me. Plus the tech support people where i work are incredibly hard to get hold of. So i tend to sort my own problems out.
