You have to enter the gift card into your account in the same manner you do with Amazon. In other words, if you have a $25 gift card, you put the entire $25 into your account and it's ready for use. If there is gift card money available, iTunes will deduct from that first, and then charge your CC if there's not enough in the gift card.

To enter the gift card, enter the iTunes store and look on the right hand side of the screen under "quick links" and click "redeem."

iTunes is not the same thing as the iTunes Store, by the way.

True, but since you can't buy anything "in iTunes," it was obvious he was talking about the iTMS.

(Just so I can be an ass)

It's no longer the iTMS, by the way. It's just the iTunes Store.

need more itunes help!

i downloaded a show on itunes but when i clicked on it it says:

Windows cannot open this file.

To open this file, windows needs to know what program created it. windows can go online to look it up automatically or you can manually select from a list of programs on your computer.

its a .m4v file (whatever that is).

but when i click on use the internet to find the appropriate program i get this:

File Type: Unknown

Description: Windows does not recognize this file type.

wtf is this? i paid for a legal download and i get this crap? how do i fix this? what kind of file is .m4v (its suppose to be a tv show episode so its a video file).

Its a DRM protected mpeg4 video. Um, the application you downloaded it with (iTunes) will play it. If it doesn't, well, thats just Windows. Reinstall Quicktime.

Figured I'd bump this, since it is the topic I needed.

I recently added a couple of video podcasts (PTI, Around The Horn) but I can't get them added to my ipod. I've tried automatically synching them, as well as doing them manually, but I can't get either to work. Has anyone else had this trouble? If not, what else can I do?

Have you looked under Videos on your iPod rather than Podcasts? If you play from Podcasts, you'll get audio with no video. But playing them from the Video menu will get you both.

Or are they just not transferring over at all?

Not transferring at all. No idea why. My other video podcasts are fine, it's just those two, which are the last two that I added.
