Seeking advice on backup solution

I would like to backup my office server to a spare hard drive on my home PC, which is connected to the office via VPN (ipsec using Watchguard). Both use a cable internet connection. Office server runs MS SBS 2003, and Home runs XP Pro.

Of the data I am trying to back up, roughly 10 GB is the server OS, and roughly 10 GB is data (word, excel, pdf files) and Exchange. Obviously, I have no tape backup on my office server.

Is there any software that will facilitate this technique? I understand this isn't an ideal solution, but I need a cheap solution until the budget justifies more advanced storage expenditures.

Wouldn't it be easier if you just buy two 500GB external drives for $300 and use the builtin backup software to backup the server? Once it's backup, you can take the external drive offsite.

Actually, that is my current technique. I am trying to get things automated.

Deltacopy might work for you. It uses rsync, so it only backs up the changed bits in a file making it more friendly for the relatively slow upload speeds on cable. I haven't used this for exchange, but I'm thinking it might work as veritas replication exec uses a similar method, except of course this way is free. It runs as a service, and you can schedule it to run overnight. If you wanted to try it with exchange, you would probably need to use the shadow copy toolkit from MS, create a snapshot assigned to a drive letter and do the backup from that drive. It's easier than it looks, I do it that way to avoid any issues with open files. I can post the script I use if you decide to try it.
