Looking for a good SATA DVD burner
My Dell 9200 arrived yesterday. Since my Plextor burner from the current PC is IDE, I need to get a new burner for my new PC. The Plextor SATA is $105 from Newegg so that is out of the question.

The Samsung S183A got a pretty decent review over @ cdfreaks:

Looks like it does really nice burns with Verbatim DVD and DVD-RW media. Newegg has the lightscribe version of this drive for $42 with free shipping...

This may not be exactly what you're looking for, but I've got one of these IDE -> SATA adapters connected to my IDE DVD burner, and it does the trick.
If you absolutely must have a native SATA drive, then this Samsung drive should work. I've got a similar (IDE) Samsung drive, and I don't have any complaints.

Lightscribe version? What is that? Is it an important feature?

Thanks for the recommendation on the Samsung drive. I got it yesterday. Installed it, burn quite fast and quiet enough.
Strangely, with the Samsung drive connected, My Dell 9200 is stuck at the Intel RAID POST screen for about 15 seconds before it boots. Without, it only pause there for about 2 seconds. I tried rearranging the Samsung to another SATA port but no use.

Cool! Glad to hear it works well.
Inre your POST issue, I've read about some issues with Adaptec's RAID chipset and SATA optical drives. Don't recall seeing anything w/Intel RAID. You might want to check with Dell to see if you have the latest BIOS.

What about the Pioneer 212D. Available for about $50 on eBay or a few select sites.
