Replacing Laptop LCD, how hard is it?

My son, who I love dearly, dropped my wife's laptop and the screen cracked. I am considering ordering the part and replacing it myself, but I've never taken a laptop apart before. What is the difficulty level of replacing something like this?

How hard it is is relative to your skills and the type of laptop. The last one I changed on a Dell latitude took about 15 minutes and I took my time.

If you can get your hands on the field manual that says how to (many time the part comes with such instructions) it should not be too hard.

I took apart ours last summer to replace the hinge brace (it actually goes the length of the screen, and anchors into the base of the laptop), and while I had it apart, the screen itself seemed really accessible. There are a lot of delicate connections in there, so I highly recommend a well-lit, cat-free workspace, and don't rush yourself.
