Have anti-spam programs gotten better and what's the best?

I need to try them out again. I am still getting around 1,000 emails a day and I need to get rid of 995 of them. What's good?

G-mail's spam filter works quite well in my experience.

I don't think it's ever let a spam through to my inbox, though it has put a few legitimate e-mails into the spam folder (mostly Amazon bulk e-mails).

I'm not going to be much help on a program. But, I have a Google email account and I get maybe one or two spam emails in my inbox a month.

My brother-in-law sets his email acct to forward to his gmail acct, then has his gmail acct forward to another email acct that he accesses via the usual pop3 or imap. This basically makes gmail a spam/anti-virus filtering mail gateway. He says it works pretty well.

Holy shit almighty. I never thought of that. Thanks belboz.

I've been getting around 600 Russian Text email spam over 3 days. If I don't check email or delete anything in 3 days, I don't get email. Maybe this can solve my problem.

I have forwarded to gmail, and it has forwarded to my main account, but didn't filter anything. How exactly do you do that?

Dude, what email client are you using? My god. Doesn't it have a junk mail filter?

yeah, but it is only like a 10mb account so it fills up with spam and tells me it won't send any more email after a day or two.

kvr: I suggest SpamBayes. It basically "learns" what is Spam and what isn't. Spam goes into a Spam folder, Unsure goes into another folder, and messages stay in your Inbox.

Need a little help on the install. Using outlook Express.

2. Setup your mail client: You need to set your mail client to receive mail from localhost rather than your mail server.

Walk me throught that, if you don't mind. I have the program active, but not sure how it gets my mail or sends it to outlook express. I did give it the pop3 server in the set up, but how does it have my address, log in, password, etc?

We use GFI Antispam at work. It seems to work well for the most part (knock on wood). It's good for small -> med size businesses, but probably not so much for individuals or big companies.
