How are these Logitech V-4 computer speakers?

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Z-4I-.../dp/B000ARD9PG

These look and sound good from what I heard the other day.

Any thoughts? Not a bad price either.

I got them on buy.com with google checkout. I like them. Much better than some old computer speakers I had. They sound pretty good to me.

What's the difference between the Z-4 and Z-4i? One is silver, one is black....that's the only difference I can tell.

The silver one does look sexier

In general I have a pretty good impression of Logitech. They seem to make good stuff. I'm familiar with their mice, at least. Are they good in speakers as well?

I just got a new PC and have just the speakers in the LCD screen. Pretty weak. I could use some suggestions/recommendations for speakers under $100. Not sure if I want or need a subwoofer, but would like something with a bit more volume ability, and some deeper sound.

I had a set of JBL platinums with my old computer, but they draw power from the monitor, so I can't use them with my new pc.

edit... saw some HP speakers at WalMart tonight. Pair for $18; set with subwoofer $48. Any good? Just got an HP setup, so it might make sense to get HP speakers. If they're good. Not even sure I need or want a subwoofer... ???

Reviews for both those sets mention a problem in the mid-range. Not sure I totally understand what that means. Does it mean it sounds good really loud, but not at middle settings? That could be a problem.

Me, I'm wondering if I'm better off buying a set of two good speakers than a cheap set of three that includes a subwoofer. I don't want to spend over $100 on computer speakers.

I feel the same way, it seems worth it to spend $50-75, but over $100 is kinda worthless IMO.

I think the Z-4i series is nice...looks good, sounded good when I heard it in store.

Midrange refers to the middle sound frequencies, as opposed to bass (low frequencies) or treble (high frequencies).

I have this set and I LOVE IT. But you should know that you cannot turn the subby all the way down and even turned to its lowest setting, it still puts out tons of fat bass. If you don't like booming bass I suggest avoiding them. I think younger listeners will dig that level of bass boom especially for Hip hop, Pop, and Electronic music; but I've seen reviews by people who said it was just too much bass.

I bought them with watching movie trailers in mind and you know how some of those use booming bass to get the point across. I loke that sort of thing but not everyone does.

Also, to my knowledge the 5.1 version of this uses pretty much the same speakers but it obviously has 3 more speakers. It's the same price but there may be a slightly more expensive versoin of the 5.1 so do some research. i would've purched teh 5.1 version but I don't have the room for them at my computer desk.

5.1 version at amazon

Funny, I bought the X-230 set yesterday! Love 'em, too!

Best Buy wanted $60, but I got 'em to price match CompUSA's $50. BB was closer and cheaper sales tax.

This is really what I wanted to spend on these, and also about what I wanted for PC speakers. Anything more would seem like a waste and overkill.

This is the best set of PC speakers I've ever had, and the first of anything with a subwoofer. Sounded odd at first, but I've quickly gotten used to it. Music and games sound great. I can't get enough of it.

Kinda odd that the best sound system I have right now is on the computer. I need a sound system for my DVD player next.

I have the X-530 http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...CONTENTID=9067 my guess is that they are just like the 230's just 5.1, I really like them and they are pretty cheap, great bass from the sub. Really if you aren't getting digital I think they are the best $/performance you can get
