Can I use this for more HD space on my PC (non laptop).

I am running out of harddrive space on PC. Can I use this to give me extra space. It will be on sale for 70 bucks soon. I didnt know if this was for only laptops or Home PCs too. Id rather deal with this as I dont know how to install internal ones myself. Is this acceptable/easy to use?

That should work fine, as long asyou have a firewire or usb 2.0 port on your pc.

When is it going to be on sale for that price? I might have to pick one up.

The price is right but you might want to search this forum for more info on it. I believe some people aren't happy how it spins down after a while.

There is a 400GB WD one that's gonna be on sale for Black Friday at Staples. $99.98 after $40 easy rebate and $110 instant savings. I don't know if it's USB and FireWire or just USB though.

After you don't use it for a while the drive shuts down. Then when you do any Windows Explorer function your system has to wait for the drive to spin up. That can get really annoying.

It is annoying. I have three of the 500GB ones from their last sale. I emailed WD tech support about the shut down issue and there is no way to disable it. Now, I just plug them in when I need them.

MyBook's

I have nothing by excellent things to say about this WD MyBook external storage... not only does it look cool as hell, it was easy to install and use.

Circuit City has the 320gig (!) premium version (that allows USB or firewire connection) for $209.00 - $20 IR - $50 MIR = $139.99!

I have the 160gb version I picked up for about half that price. It really saved my hide when I had a few problems resulting in a complete OS reinstall.
