Best video card for a Vista user who isn't a gamer?

I ran the Vista test for my machine and I am good to go (Intel Core Duo 2.67Ghz, 2 gig ram) except for the graphics card.

I have: 256mb GeForce 7900 GT and I play absolutely no games on my PC.

Any suggestions on what card I should upgrade to?

Are there even any DX10 capable cards currently on the market? It may be impossible to pass that test.

Is there a reason you're going to upgrade to Vista in the first place?

Wait a minute---you have a 7900 GT and you need to upgrade to run an OS?

Your 7900GT will be good enough for everything and anything for quite some time, especially if you don't play any games. It's odd enough that you have it when you don't play games.

7900GT? You could buy an XFX 6800 XTReme 256MB card for $130 and be overqualified to run Vista.

Microsoft really pulled a slimy marketing job with their "Are You Ready For Vista" crap.

Seriously, I have a GeForce 6200 in my machine right now and can run the Vista beta with all effects on. I wouldn't want to try any games on it, but you'll be MORE than ready for Vista as-is. And if you want to trade, let me know. :P

Well, this is unexpected news!

I think what must have happened is I read something wrong on the test.

And, I am just upgrading to Vista for the hell of it. I like to have the new things heh.

Good luck with that. I won't be upgrading to Vista until games start coming out that take advantage of DirectX 10, etc. Everything else I do will be unchanged from XP to Vista.
