Can you extend a USB mouse over PS/2?

I know that a 5m USB extension cable will not work (tested it) but can I extend a USB Mouse + Keyboard by attaching a USB -> PS/2 Adaptor then getting a 5m PS/2 extension cable?
I have worries about doing this as the KB + Mouse are native USB.

Anyone ever tried this?

It depends on the mouse itself. On some mouse I can use an USB to PS2 converter, but there are some model that doesn't support PS2. But as for myself, 5m seems to be a very lenghty distance and I'll stick to a wireless instead.

I'm doing it to form a KVM setup. One computer will be within a metre away, the other over 5 metres, so wireless will be difficult to set up.
I know they make 10m PS/2 extension cables so in theory it should work. I'll buy a long cable and test it out.

So I guess the issue here is whether the mouse can support PS/2 or not. Otherwise, I think you're good to go. Good luck!
