Best Setup for Home Theater/Computer Network

Ok - the computer and home theater concepts have merged.

Some people simply have their home theater on their computer.

But what would be the best way to (probably wirelessly) hook up the tv and stereo into the computer network one already has?

Some people would argue tivo does the job. I'd like to see something where I can have my computer network, pipe info to the tv (or back to the computer) and pipe info to the stereo (or back to the computer).

What's the latest in doing that efficiently and economically?

If this should be in Home Theater, go ahead and move it - again this all about combining tech (computer networks) with home theater.
